Currently video consultation vets (overseas) are affiliated with insurance companies and are bypassing the regular vets of pet owners. A video consultation can never replace hands-on examination of an ill or injured pet, but Medechat will be useful for assessing remote patients unable to access a veterinarian in person and offers staff flexible hours or work from home.
It will also give pet owners convenient access to professional advice, drive clinic visits and prevent clients from seeking independent video consultation or advice from Dr Google!
Dr Moss Siddle started working in outback Australia as a cattle and horse vet in 1992. He then worked in the UK for 3 years in various large and small animal practices before establishing Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Centre in the beautiful eastern outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. With the advent of smartphones Dr Moss produced a free pet care app in 2012 called VetCheck which has over 10,000 installations. Medechat is how Dr Moss sees the future of veterinary medicine.
Schedule video consultations at any time that suits the practice workflow. Staff can work from home at times that are more convenient for them. Available appointment times and consultation types are managed by you.
The Medechat button on your practice website allows previously registered pet owners at your practice to easily schedule video consults with your vets. Vet and pet owner receive a text or email confirming the time.
At the scheduled time, the consulting vet and the pet owner join the session. The pet is examined by the Vet during the video chat. Payments are made securely through the platform before the consultation.
The pet owner is emailed a summary and a follow up appointment is made if required in-clinic or via Medechat. The vet can also issue prescriptions quickly and easily.
Vet history and pet owner notes are saved in Medechat and are e-mailed back to the practice admin for attachment or copy into the patient file in your PMS. The video consultation is recorded and archived.
A video consultation can never replace a hands-on examination of an ill or injured pet, but it can be useful for assessing remote patients, triage after hours as well as dental, behaviour, skin and post surgery consultations.
Medechat is AVA and Vet Board compliant. It also validates a bona-fide VCPR (or VOP in Victoria) no matter where you practice in the world.
Your pet owners can book an appointment the same way they book a face to face consult, fitting into your current workflow simply and easily.
